Updating Plex server using SSH
Thank you to Nope1234 for making this guide
This is for those who have already claimed their Plex server on seedit4me.
A guide for those who want to update Plex and would like to upgrade their server to the newest release before the system os updates
First, enable SSH through the seedit4me dashboard.
Windows using Putty
on putty put your ip and port found on your dash under SSH
connect to your seedbox login as seedit4me and your password is your seedbox password
type sudo apt update && apt upgrade -y
once this is done type sudo box update
thats it you should be fully updated
Login by entering your seedbox connection details, listed in the SSH area. It'll list your connection details as: [email protected] I used iTerminal for iOS. iTerminal wouldn't allow me to connect without a password; enter any password here, it doesn't matter. If you're unsure which one to use, try Putty. Keep in mind that if you muttle with SSH too much and mess things up, your only option is to restore your seedbox to original settings, losing all of your current content. If you keep to the instructions listed here, you should be fine.
Once connected, type in the following:
apt-get update && apt-get install plexmediaserver -y
You'll be asked for a password after entering sudo -s, with the prompt:
[sudo] password for seedit4me: seedit4me pwd
If you entered the password correctly, you'll be prompted with:
Now enter the command in the second bulletpoint. If successful, you'll see the second to last line as shown:
PlexMediaServer install: PlexMediaServer-x.xx.x.xxxx-xxxxx Installation successful. Errors: 0, Warnings: 0
type in exit to get out of sudo, type in exit again to close the SSH session.
Verify that the update has occurred via the web browser.
Perform this procedure whenever you have a Plex update that's not available to the public.
